Kolkata, Aug 1 The CBI today looked for encircling of charges for murder and criminal trick against 46 denounced, including Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung, in the All India Gorkha League pioneer Madan Tamang's killing in Darjeeling.
Amid a hearing in the city sessions court, CBI counsel Arun Bhagat prayed for framing of charges against the denounced, among whom are the heavy hitters of GJM, including Bimal Gurung, his better half Asha, Roshan Giri, Col (retd) Ramesh Alley, previous MLA Harka Bahadur Chetri, Binay Tamang and Rabin Subba.
The CBI counsel submitted before Kundan Kumar Kumai, chief judge of city sessions court, that Madan Tamang, who had chosen to hold a public meeting at Chowkbazar in the heart of Darjeeling town in May 2010, was compelled to reschedule it a number of times owing to opposition by GJM.
Claiming that the GJM leadership had decided not to enable whatever other gathering to hold a political rally in the slopes, Bhagat presented that it was especially contradicted to AIGL as its pioneer Tamang was endeavoring to convey to the fore charged debasement among the GJM big bosses.
Tamang had chosen to hold the meeting on May 10, 2010 at Clubside close to the Mall and on the portentous day, when he was managing arrangements for the rally, around 200 GJM activists furnished with deadly weapons assaulted him, Bhagat expressed.
He was hit by a sharp weapon in his neck and was pronounced conveyed dead when he was taken to Darjeeling Sadar Hospital, the CBI direct submitted.
Bhagat guaranteed that GJM Women's wing pioneer Asha had debilitated Tamang two days before his killing and was additionally observed at a place close to the spot of the crime before the incident.
The CBI legal advisor claimed that Bimal Gurung and some different pioneers had remained in Kalimpong and different places on that day, however there was confirmation of telephonic discussions that point to their contribution in the trick and murder of Tamang.
Prior, Debasish Roy, advise for a few charged people, looked for dismissal of hearing on the ground that GJM general secretary Roshan Giri has moved the Supreme Court looking for exchange of his trial for the situation to Sikkim from Kolkata apprehending serious law and order crisis.
The CBI contradicted the supplication presenting that the Supreme Court had not passed any stay on the procedures here.
Judge Kumai said that since there was no stay order by the apex court and in light of the fact that the Calcutta High Court has guided this court to finish hearing for framing of charges inside August 17, procedures would proceed.
The issue would again come up for hearing tomorrow.
