मुंबई में 7 सितंबर, ताहिर मर्चेंट और फिरोज अब्दुल रशीद खान, मुंबई के 1993 के मुंबई विस्फोटों के मामले में दो आरोपी को मुंबई में एक विशेष आतंकवादी और विघटनकारी गतिविधि (टाडा) कोर्ट ने मौत की सजा सुनाई थी।

अन्य अभियुक्त, अबू सलेम और करीमुल्ला खान, को आजीवन कारावास की सजा सुनाई गई थी

रियाज सिद्दीकी को दस साल के लिए सजा सुनाई गई थी।

लोक अभियोजक उज्जवल निकम ने फैसले के बाद मीडिया को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, "तुरुंगियों को जेल में सेवा देने के लिए बंद कर दिया जाएगा। आज, टाडा विशेष अदालत ने ताहिर मर्चेंट, फिरोज को मौत की सजा सुनाई है। अब्दुल रशीद खान। करीमुल्ला खान और अबू सलेम को जीवनकाल की कारावास की सजा मिली है और रियाज सिद्दीकी को दस साल के लिए जेल में डाल दिया गया है।

इस बीच, वकील दिपक साल्वे ने व्याख्या करते हुए कहा, "अगर सरकार सजा को कम नहीं करती, तो दोषी को पूरे जीवनकाल तक जेल की सजा होती।"

अदालत ने 16 जून, 1993 के धमाकों के मास्टरमाइंड सहित छह लोगों को दोषी ठहराया, जिसमें 257 मारे गए थे और 713 लोग घायल हुए थे, मुस्तफा डोसा और अबू सलेम ने इस साल 16 जून को दोषी ठहराया था।

28 जून को डोसा का निधन हो गया, जिसके बाद उनके खिलाफ मामला बंद हो गया।

सीबीआई ने दावा किया था कि दकू की भूमिका यकब मेमन की तुलना में "अधिक गंभीर" थी, जिसे जुलाई 2015 में उसी मामले में फांसी दी गई थी।

सीबीआई ने यह भी कहा था कि डोसा, मर्चेंट और फिरोज, "मुख्य षड्यंत्रकारियों" थे।

जून में सजा के बाद वाक्यों की डिग्री के ऊपर बहस जारी हुई और 10 अगस्त को समाप्त हुआ।

सभी आरोपी कई आरोपों का सामना कर रहे थे जैसे कि आपराधिक साजिश, सरकार के खिलाफ युद्ध और लोगों की हत्या।

Mumbai September 7, Tahir Merchant and Feroz Abdul Rashid Khan, two of the charged in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, were awarded the death sentence by a special Terrorist and Disruptive Activity (TADA) Court on Thursday in Mumbai.

Other charged, Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan, were condemned to life imprisonment

Riyaz Siddiqui was sentenced for a long time.

Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, while addressing the media after the declaration of the decision, stated, "The convicts will get set-off for the time they have served in prison. Today, the TADA special court has granted death punishment to Tahir Merchant, Feroz Abdul Rashid Khan. Karimullah Khan and Abu Salem have gotten life term detainment and Riyaz Siddiqui has been jailed for ten years."

In the mean time, legal advisor Deepak Salve clarifying about the lifer said that, "If the government does not drive the sentence, at that point the blameworthy should serve imprison term till as long as he can remember."

The court had indicted six people, including the driving force of the 1993 serial impacts that had slaughtered 257 and harmed 713 people, Mustafa Dossa and Abu Salem, on June 16 this year.

Dossa died on June 28 following which, the argument against him was closed.

The CBI had asserted that the part of Dossa was "more serious" than Yakub Memon, who was hanged in July 2015 in a similar case.

The CBI had additionally said that Dossa, Merchant and Feroz, were "primary schemers".

Contentions over the level of sentences proceeded after the conviction in June and closed on August 10.

All the blamed were confronting various charges like criminal connivance, taking up arms against the legislature and murder of people.

This was the second leg of the trial - in the main leg that finished up in 2007, the TADA court had convicted 100 blamed for the situation, while 23 people were absolved.

The attacks were arranged by Dawood Ibrahim, India's 'most needed' criminal who additionally has his name unmistakably figuring on the 'most wanted' lists of the US and the Interpol.
