Nitish Kumar: GST on petrol, diesel requires more extensive discussion

Patna, Sep 18 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the issue of executing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on petrol and diesel requires a wider discussion exchange in the GST Council.

"Prices of petrol and diesel would keep on going here and there and their rate differs each day," Kumar told columnists on the sidelines of the week after week 'Lok Samvad' (association with the general population) program.

Kumar, be that as it may, said imposes on oil and diesel are a major source of development programmes everywhere in the country.

"The issue of actualizing the GST on oil and diesel requires a more extensive discourse in the GST Council," he said.

Conversing with reporters separately, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who held the initially meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on the GST at Bengaluru a week ago, said petroleum and diesel have just been on a fundamental level a piece of the GST.

"Petrol and diesel are already part of the GST administration on a fundamental level and thus, there is no compelling reason to convey any revision in the GST enactment. The issue is when to begin the usage of the GST on petrol or diesel, which needs a wider discussion in the GST Council," he said.

Sushil Modi heads a five-member GoM board of trustees constituted by the Center as of late to investigate specialized difficulties being confronted by the GST enlistment and expense documenting entryway.

Asked if the inclusion of petrol and diesel in the GST would prompt bringing down of their costs, Sushil Modi said he can't make a straight out remark on the issue.
