Washington, Sept 25 (AFP) Former US President Barack Obama personally urged Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to counter the rise of fake news on the interpersonal organization amid a meeting held not long after a year ago's race, the Washington Post revealed.
The encounter reportedly took place on the sidelines of a meeting of worldwide pioneers in Lima, Peru on November 19, two months previously Trump's introduction and days after Zuckerberg had dismissed as "crazy" the idea that misleading stories driven by Russian operatives had made a major impact on the outcome of the vote.
"Zuckerberg acknowledged the problem posed by fake news.
In any case, he revealed to Obama that those messages weren't across the board on Facebook and that there was no simple cure," the daily paper stated, citing people it said knew about the trade.
The report comes days after Facebook declared it would hand over to Congress promotions it found were purchased by Russia-linked fake accounts, went for exciting political pressures tensions in front of and following the election.
The Kremlin has denied any involvement.
