Washington, Sep The most recent round of talks between India and Pakistan on Indus Water Treaty concluded without reaching an agreement, the World Bank has said even as it guaranteed that both nations will continue on working to determine the issues in a friendly way.
"While an agreement has not been come to at the finish of the meetings, the World Bank will keep on working with the two nations to determine the issues in an agreeable way and in accordance with the Treaty arrangements," the World Bank said in a statement.
"The two nations and the World Bank valued the talks and reconfirmed their sense of duty regarding the conservation of the Treaty," the World Bank said after the finish of the Secretary-level discourses between the two South Asian neighbors on the specialized issues of the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric power plants inside the framework of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
The two-day discourse occurred at the World bank headquarters on September 14-15.
"The World Bank stays resolved to act in compliance with common decency and with finish fairness and straightforwardness in satisfying its obligations under the Treaty, while proceeding to help the nations," the bank said in its announcement.
The IWT was marked in 1960 after nine years of transactions between India and Pakistan with the assistance of the World Bank, which is likewise a signatory.
The World Bank's part in connection to "contrasts" and "debate" is constrained to the assignment of individuals to satisfy certain parts when asked for by either or both of the parties.
The Indian assignment was driven by the Union Water Resources Secretary Amarjit Singh. It additionally had delegates from Ministry of External Affairs, Power, India's Indus Water Commissioner and Central Water Commission.
The Pakistani appointment was driven by Secretary Water Resources Division Arif Ahmed Khan alongside Secretary of Water and Power Yousuf Naseem Kho khar, High Commissioner of Indus Waters Treaty Mirza Asif Baig and Joint Secretary of Water Syed Mehar Ali Shah.
The last round of talks were hung on August 1, which the World bank said were held in a spirit of goodwill and participation.
