Lucknow, May 29 Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday lashed out at the government for the alleged failure of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in the Monday by-surveys and requested to bring back the ballot paper system.
"There is growing mistrust in people. They don't trust the machines any longer. Also, what happened yesterday, how one machine, at that point two machines, at that point machines at a substantial scale ended up being defective. Accordingly, we request that the further elections ought to be directed on the ballot paper," said previous Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
He further demanded that people who were not ready to vote because of the broken machines ought to be permitted to vote once more.
"Ballot paper will strengthen the democracy and the trust of people. We also trust that the general population, who confronted the issue, will get the opportunity to vote once more," he included.
Yadav also blamed the state government for scheming against the partnership of Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal, which have mutually handled an applicant in the Kairana Lok Sabha by-survey, to influence the votes to support them by EVM altering.
"It is their system, that EVMs in the zones where the help for Samajwadi-RLD organization together was solid was flawed," he included.
