Vice President Naidu: GST, demonetisation were progressive steps taken by Prime Minister

Agartala, May 24 Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said on Wednesday that Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation were "progressive advances" taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards influencing the country corruption to free.

Praising Prime Minister Modi for presenting different focal schemes for the development of the country, the Vice President stated, "With the presentation of GST and demonetisation, the Prime Minister made progressive strides. The GST income in April has crossed Rs 1.4 lakh crore, demonstrating high trusts in the new assessment administration."

VP Naidu was speaking at the 11th convocation ceremony of the Tripura University.

In his speech, he also emphasised on the role of the present Union government towards the infrastructural development in the northeastern states for better connectivity and business in the region and the neighbouring countries.

The 11th assembly of the Tripura University was held following five years. Upwards of 142 researchers got Ph.D. degrees and around 400 students from many streams got gold and silver medals.

Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Vice-Chancellor Anjan Kumar Ghosh, Registrar Santi Deb Roy and different dignitaries were available in the Maharaja BB assembly hall for the conference.
