Supreme Court guides J&K Police to probe Kathua witnesses in front of family

Srinagar, May 17 The Supreme Court on Thursday guided the Jammu and Kashmir police to cross examine witnesses from an unmistakable separation in the Kathua case.

The top court also directed probe should to occur in nearness of their relatives. The decision was taken by the apex court after three witnesses charged torment by the police amid the cross examination.

The Supreme Court on May 16 heard the matter of three students, witnesses in the Kathua gangrape and kill case, looking for insurance from police torment.

The peak court on May 7 exchanged the case to Pathankot Court and furthermore decided that the issue does not warrant a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) request.

According to the top court, everyday hearings would occur in the issue alongside in-camera procedures, under the Pathankot locale judge, with no scope for adjournment.

The Jammu and Kashmir government told the zenith court that they were prepared for reasonable trial for the situation including the affirmed assault and murder of a minor in Kathua in January.

The eight-year-old girl, belonging to a nomadic Muslim tribe, was abducted, medicated, posse assaulted, tormented and murdered in January.
