Manmohan Singh written letter to President on PM Modi's 'danger' to Congress

New Delhi, May 14 Former prime minister Manmohan Singh has written a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind in which he has censured Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'threat' to the Indian National Congress (INC) during a speech in Hubli, Karnataka.

Singh said Prime Minister Modi was "using his forces and benefits as Prime Minister to settle personal and political scores" amid the Karnataka elections.

On May 6, Prime Minister Modi in an open rally in Hubli stated: "Congress ke neta kan khol karke sun lijiye, agar seemao ko paar karoge, to ye Modi hai, lene ke dene cushion jayenge (Congress pioneers hear me out while having your ears completely open. On the off chance that you cross breaking points, I am Modi, you should pay consequences.)"

Dr Singh said Prime Minister Modi's words were "threatening and scaring with goal to affront and incite break of peace".

"We might want to express that neither the gathering nor our leaders will be cowed around such threats," Singh included.

All through the letter, Singh requested that the President "alert" Prime Minister Modi against using "ridiculous, debilitating and scaring dialect" against anybody.

Aside from Singh, the letter was marked by Leaders of Opposition of the two places of Parliament and senior Congress pioneers like P. Chidambaram, Ashok Gehlot, Ambika Soni, Mukul Wasnik, Motilal Vora, Kamal Nath and Ahmed Patel.
