Chinese Foreign Minister meets Kim at Pyongyang

Seoul, May 3 Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un here on Thursday, as indicated by China's Foreign Ministry.

The ministry issued a short explanation of the same on the well known Chinese long range informal communication site, Weibo. No different subtle elements were revealed, Yonhap News Agency announced.

The visit comes after the Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in held a memorable summit at the outskirt town of Panmunjom in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which isolates North and South Korea.

Earlier on Wednesday, Wang met his North Korean partner Ri Yong-ho and concurred for working towards accomplishing complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula and fortifying of "benevolent and agreeable" relations.

Ri and Wang had an "inside and out and broad exchange" on methods for enhancing two-sided ties and examined common issues concerning the present circumstance of the Korean Peninsula, the North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) stated, refering to a report by South's Yonhap News Agency.

"They also sincerely exchanged their opinions on the issues of shared concern including the circumstance on the Korean Peninsula. The two sides welcome the arranged summit between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)," the KCNA report said.

Wang, who arrived in North Korea on Wednesday is on a two-day visit.

He is the first Chinese Foreign Minister to visit North Korea in 11 years.
