Gulam Nabi Azad: 3-year imprison term in Triple talaq case an `atrocious law`

New Delhi, May 4 Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday said that the gathering "fully" dismiss the law proposed by the Center to grant three-year of prison term for liable in Triple talaq cases as it considers it as a " abominable law".

"The centre officially moved it in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and we have rejected it. We will dismiss it completely in light of the fact that it is a terrible law. They simply need to isolate the couple, there is nothing past that," Azad said.

While, Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, leader of the All India Imam Association said that if the statute is passed the odds of its abuse will increment.

He further pitched for an exhaustive talk on the same.

"If Triple Talaq is abused then this can likewise be abused. A lady can erroneously charge their better half," Imam Ilyasi said.

He accentuated on lady training and said that it is imperative to advance it, which will resolve a large portion of the issue and engage them.

Earlier a report developed according to which government is thinking about to move a statute to grant a sentence of three years to those who enjoy moment triple (talaq-e-biddat).

Triple talaq, or verbal divorce, is practiced by some in the Muslim people group to in a split second separation their spouses by articulating talaq three times.

According to the directions of the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Narendra Modi drove National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government tabled The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017 (Triple Talaq Bill) in the Lok Sabha, which passed it on December 28, 2017.

Be that as it may, the bill is yet to get leeway from the Rajya Sabha.
