He went to Ahmedabad's railway station and the development site of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.

Akimoto stated, " It is the most troublesome and complex site for development. I see that Indians have an intrigue and desires from Japanese as to this extend. Presently, I comprehend Japan has a greater obligation to achieve desires of Indians. When I backpedal to Japan, I will pass on this excitement and desires of Indians to Japanese Government."

He added that Japan will coordinate with India on the MAHSR project.

"Indeed, even Japan is helping Indian Railways to improve safety in railways. Today, when we achieved the site, I saw everybody was wearing safety gear as we had also demanded guaranteeing safety at work. I was content with the emphasis on security as life is imperative. Japan will keep on cooperating with India in this venture. (India's) National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHRC) and Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) have been doing great work. I was glad that I could come to Ahmedabad."

MEGA or the Ahmedabad Metro is an under development mass-transit rail system for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
