Senior leader Uday Narayan Chaudhary quits JD(U) party

Patna, May 2 Former Bihar Assembly speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary today declared his renunciation from the essential enrollment of the gathering, refering to "demoralisation of cadre" and support to "dhankuber" (those with profound pockets) as the significant reasons.

The JD(U), in any case, kept up that the "coming or going of anyone didn't influence the gathering".

Chaudhary, 65, has been critical of the party as far back as Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar came back to the BJP-drove NDA overlay. The veteran pioneer charged that his choice to stop the gathering took after "a spurt in barbarities against Dalits and crimes against women".

"I have supported the JD(U) over the last 20 years. Be that as it may, I host been dismayed at the gathering's deviation from its center standards and responsibility regarding the welfare of the discouraged. There has been a spurt in monstrosities against Dalits and ladies, the most recent occurrence being the attack of a young lady in Jehanabad," Chaudhary told journalists here.

"The party unit, particularly the devoted laborers, is getting unsettled while the dhankuber (those with profound pockets) are being advanced. In perspective of these things I have chosen to surrender my essential enrollment of the gathering," he clarified.

Chaudhary, in any case, did not talk about his future strategy.

A previous supporter of Kumar, Chaudhary was instrumental in turning away a split in the gathering in 2015 when the then boss clergyman Jitan Ram Manjhi declined to clear a path for Kumar, who had ventured down for a couple of months owning moral duty regarding the JD (U's) failure in the 2014 Lok Sabha surveys.

Of late, however, the senior leader has been openly critical of the party line and seen fraternizing with those in the opposition camp.

He was seen offering the phase to previous BJP leader Yashwant Sinha at a gathering of the Rashtra Manch here a month ago, where the last reported his choice to stop the gathering within the sight of pioneers like RJD beneficiary evident Tejashwi Yadav.

Often referred to as the Dalit face of the JD(U), Chaudhary yesterday joined a rally, sorted out by social associations from the memorable Gandhi Maidan to the Raj Bhavan to challenge the current Supreme Court judgment on the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

On events, he also supported RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, who is serving correctional facility sentence in grain trick cases, much to the shame of his own gathering.

Rubbishing Chaudhary's allegations, JD(U) delegate leader in the state Assembly, Shyam Rajak, said "there has been no upeksha (lack of concern) towards Dalits and ladies. The legislature has been working as per the apkesha (desires) of these sections."

Rajak, a Dalit leader himself, declared that Chaudhary may have settled on the choice due to individual reasons.

"His choice has nothing to do with the gathering's approaches. The gathering will stay unaffected by the coming or going of anyone. The JD(U) gets its quality from the principles it remains for," he included.
