Thiruvananthapuram,Jun 2 The CPI(M) LDF government has chosen not to replant trees like acacia, eucalyptus and grandis which draw a lot of groundwater and rather advance and plant fruit bearing and ecologically well disposed trees, Forest Minister K Raju said here today.
Giving details of interest of the enormous tree ranch drive to be taken up by the Forest Department on June 5,'World Environment Day,' he said just fruit bearing and condition amicable trees would be advanced and planted.
Be that as it may, he said it was impractical for the administration to cut softwood trees at an extend.
Government was submitted according to a consent to supply softwood to ventures that utilization it as crude material, he said including the agreement is substantial till 2022.
On the Environment day crusade titled 'Interfacing People to Nature', Raju said in regards to one crore plant saplings would be dispersed expansive as a major aspect of the program by including school students, "Kudumbashree" (ladies' Self Help Group) units and metro bodies.
The Forest department itself would give 72 lakh saplings, while the rest would be provided by the Agriculture office and Kudumashree units, Raju said.
A state-level capacity would be initiated by Governor Justice (ret) P Sathasivam at a function here, he said.
